The 23rd International Maintenance Conference
"Mastering the Maintenance Process"
December  8-11, 2008 - Bonita Springs Florida

Learning Labs are a regular feature at IMC-2008.

Since IMC-2004 both SDT North America and ALL-TEST PRO have been offering hand's on learning labs for two foundational elements to any plant maintenance program with Airborne Ultrasound and On-line/Off-line Electric Motor Testing.  New for 2008 - Commtest Instrument, IRISS and Fluke are offering new learning labs for Vibration Analysis and Infrared Thermography.  Stop by to find out how you can win an Alienware Laptop PC.

Visitors are treated to the same learning session schedule as IMC-2008 learning regular tracks - with each learning lab track focused on its respective technology.

During the scheduled Expo breaks - lab visitors spend time with Ultrasound, Motor Testing, Vibration Analysis and Infrared experts in hands-on testing simulations.

The SDT, ALL-TEST PRO, Commtest Instrument, Fluke and IRISS Learning Labs offer IMC-2008 attendees a great way to pack a lot of information and experience in a short period of time.  In addition learning lab visitors will have a chance to win an Alienware Laptop.

Learning Lab A -  Commtest Vibration Analysis Learning Lab

Commtest is fully committed to our customer’s success. This commitment is evident in the world-class, award-winning hardware and software products that we engineer and design. But, top technology is not the only key to success and we recognize that it is imperative to provide excellent, practical, hands-on Training to develop skills and confidence in applying our leading products.

So, we are offering a series of training/learning lab sessions that do precisely that establish excellent skills and confidence with regard to understanding and applying vibration technologies. These sessions range in target audience from basic, intermediate, advanced and management personnel. These 45-minute sessions are instructed by knowledgeable staff with supporting lab demonstrator equipment.

The session topics vary and include such topics as:

  • Basic vibration terminology
  • Identifying unbalance
  • Hands-on balancing
  • Vibration analysis of electric motors
  • Rolling element bearing analysis
  • Management considerations for Reliability Program success
  • Using new technologies to vastly expedite data collection
  • Cross-channel phase measurements.

Are you an analyst?

Please come by and visit us for some excellent “hands-on” training in our Learning Lab during breaks throughout the IMC show.

Learning Lab B -  SDT Ultrasound Learning Lab

Join SDT for the premier ultrasonic learning event of the year with a grand opening at the IMC-2008 Welcome Reception beginning at 4 pm Tuesday December 9.

The SDT Ultrasound Learning Lab will also be in full operation all day on Wednesday December 10 and Thursday December 11 till 1 pm.  All IMC-2008 attendees are welcome to participate for as little as 15 minutes or as much as camping out for the entire 3 days!

The state of the art Ultrasound Learning Lab includes four interactive workstations where visitors will experience hands-on:

  • Compressed air leak detection
  • Bearing condition monitoring
  • AVM Ultranalysis and wave file management - you can even make MP3s to store on your iPod!
  • Acoustic lubrication of motor bearings
  • Valve and steam trap trouble shooting
  • Electrical fault inspections
  • And more.

Learning Lab C - ALL-TEST Pro Motor Testing Learning Lab

The ATP Learning Lab is open starting Monday, at 4PM and runs all day Tuesday and then Wednesday until 1PM.

Whether you are just starting to evaluate the benefits of an electrical motor and generator testing program or you are an experienced user of ATP equipment, you will find that a little time in the ATP learning lab will be well spent.

Off-line and On-line testing instruments are set up and demonstration motors available so you can fully experience the ALL-TEST PRO difference.

If you are new to ATP or motor testing, come in and discuss your specific reliability issues and let ATP show you a solution.

If you are an experienced user and have hardware, software or analysis questions please bring them by so their team of online and offline motor testing experts can provide the answer.

In addition to the hand's-on lab - ALL TEST Pro will be presenting two technical educational sessions:

Tuesday, December 9th

9AM to 11:30AM
Session 1- Evaluating Motor Drives using Electrical Signature Analysis (ESA)

12:30PM to 3PM
Session 2- Machinery Analysis using Vibration and Electrical Signature Analysis

Both seminars are not just for the technician, but are well suited for the manager that wants to better understand available technologies to improve motor system reliability.

*ATP learning lab is available after hours for equipment/software demonstrations or equipment/software training by appointment.

Learning Lab D - IRISS & Fluke Corporation “Pit Row” Infrared Learning Lab

Join the infrared experts from Fluke and IRISS for a series of interactive infrared labs. In these hands-on exercises, guests will use infrared imagers to troubleshoot various electrical, mechanical and facilities maintenance issues.

Come and discover the benefits offered by thermal imaging – and see how easy it is to roll up your sleeves and get started:

  • Thermography Demystified – walk away with a better understanding of how thermography works in the real-world

  • FOV/IFOV – what will an infrared camera “see” and measure

  • IR Windows – see an installation and learn about the unique considerations for FOV, transmission, and environment

  • IEEE, OSHA, NFPA 70B & 70E – what are the standards implications on thermographic inspections

  • Successful Programs – learn how to avoid the common pitfalls and set your program up for success

  • PPE – how mobile are you? Participate in our pit-crew-style PPE contest and win a prize!
