The 23rd International Maintenance Conference
"Mastering the Maintenance Process"
December  8-11, 2008 - Bonita Springs Florida

Learning Labs are a regular feature at IMC-2008.

Since IMC-2004 both SDT North America and ALL-TEST Pro have been offering hand's on learning labs for two foundational elements to any plant maintenance program with Airborne Ultrasound and On-line/Off-line Electric Motor Testing.  New for 2008 - Commtest Instrument, IRISS and Fluke are offering new learning labs for Vibration Analysis and Infrared Thermography.

Visitors are treated to the same learning session schedule as IMC-2008 learning regular tracks - with each learning lab track focused on its respective technology.

During the scheduled Expo breaks - lab visitors spend time with Ultrasound, Motor Testing, Vibration Analysis and Infrared experts in hands-on testing simulations.

The SDT, ALL-TEST PRO, Commtest Instrument, Fluke and IRISS Learning Labs offer IMC-2008 attendees a great way to pack a lot of information and experience in a short period of time.

Learning Lab A -  Commtest Vibration Analysis Learning Lab

Join Commtest Instrument for a hand's on opportunity to learn bearing failure analysis, balancing and vibration analysis techniques.

You can also learn about the latest technology available for online condition monitoring.

Commtest is committed to supporting maintenance and reliability professionals in their journey to reliability.

Learning Lab B -  SDT Ultrasound Learning Lab

Join SDT for the premier ultrasonic learning event of the year with a grand opening at the IMC-2008 Welcome Reception beginning at 4 pm Tuesday December 9.

The SDT Ultrasound Learning Lab will also be in full operation all day on Wednesday December 10 and Thursday December 11 till 1 pm.  All IMC-2008 attendees are welcome to participate for as little as 15 minutes or as much as camping out for the entire 3 days!

The state of the art Ultrasound Learning Lab includes four interactive workstations where visitors will experience hands-on:

  • Compressed air leak detection
  • Bearing condition monitoring
  • AVM Ultranalysis and wave file management - you can even make MP3s to store on your iPod!
  • Acoustic lubrication of motor bearings
  • Valve and steam trap trouble shooting
  • Electrical fault inspections
  • And more.

Learning Lab C - ALL-TEST Pro Motor Testing Learning Lab

Join a team of online and offline motor testing experts at ALL-TEST Pro to gets hands-on experience with their full line of testing instruments and see how easy it is to establish a motor reliability program at your company.

In addition to the hand's-on lab - ALL TEST Pro will be presenting a technical educational session.

Machinery Analysis using Vibration and Electrical Signature Analysis

Rotating machinery exhibit specific characteristics when faults created during manufacturing, assembly or operation cause the geometric centerline of the shaft to periodically move. Experience has shown that many of these faults can be readily identified using vibration signature analysis. Recent research has proven that many of these same faults can be identified using Electrical Signature Analysis.

This presentation describes the forces that are created by these malfunctions and how they present themselves in both the Vibration spectrum and the Electrical spectrum.

Case studies are presented comparing the same machine malfunction with mechanical Vibration data and Electrical Signature Analysis data.

Learning Lab D - Fluke and IRISS Infrared Learning Lab

Join Fluke and IRISS for a hands-on experience with the thermal imager and infrared windows. Visitors will go through a series of exercises to discover the benefits of thermal imaging and how easy it is to get started.

This is followed by a session to explain what can infrared camera can see and measure. You will also discover and prevent the common pitfalls of thermal imaging and how an infrared window affect imagers performance.

Be sure and visit the infrared learning lab to see how mobile are you in your PPE? Don our PPE and perform a thermographic inspection – Fastest person through the test will win a prize.
